Researching something has never been easy. First, the idea of the research. Then the development and execution of the study. Investigating something requires time, patience, mistakes, successes, costs, disappointment and joy. The findings are not always satisfactory, but that does not mean they are not important. The research methodology is fundamental to the correct conclusion of the investigation. Any error in the method of execution of the scientific work will invalidate your research.
The editors and reviewers, who are notoriously knowledgeable about the subject, do not make things easy; they are very demanding. They will judge the research so that it can then be published in scientific journals and newspapers. Indexed and recognized journals present “grades” of importance as a result of the seriousness of the entire editorial board. Scientific works to be published in these journals must be methodologically perfect, from the introduction, methodology, results and conclusion. Statistical analyses must be well applied. Otherwise, rejection for publication is certain.
However, predatory journals have emerged. The opportunity to make money by facilitating publications and with the advent of electronic journals led to the emergence of these journals and newspapers. The researcher pays the publication fee and “voilà”, his/her work will be published. BUT AN IMPORTANT POINT, NOT EVERY JOURNAL THAT REQUIRES PAYMENT FOR PUBLICATION IS PREDATORY. HUNDREDS OF INDEXED AND RECOGNIZED JOURNALS REQUIRE A PUBLICATION FEE FOR ADMINISTRATIVE REASONS.
It is estimated that there are more than ten thousand predatory journals worldwide whose average time from submission of work to publication in the journal is 2.7 months, a significantly shorter period than other recognized journals.
It is important to be aware of this movement in the scientific field because unethical behavior and false or misleading conclusions can lead voters to wrong conduct and catastrophic consequences. Researchers should also be careful to avoid submitting their “well-designed” work to these types of journals.
Therefore, for both scientists and voters, seeking the reliability of the journal and newspaper is essential for the advancement of science and good conduct.
